October 19, 2020 – Ascension published their virtual care white paper outlining key barriers to telehealth expansion and detailing recommendations to Congress, the Administration, and states on how best to ensure patients and providers can continue to leverage telehealth technologies after the pandemic.

Recommendations in the white paper include:

  • Removing geographic and originating site restrictions,
  • Establishing payment parity for telehealth and in-person services,
  • Removing existing regulations to ensure that virtual care is available from all distant site providers, and
  • Permanently permit virtual supervision.
